The Hillsborough Schools Foundation (HSF) is a nonprofit organization that raises private funds to support the Hillsborough City School District.
Founded in 1980 by Hillsborough parents, HSF bridges the gap between what our district receives in public funding and what it costs to deliver the education our students receive today.
One of the most successful public school foundations in the nation, we pioneered a new approach to public education by making our children and their futures a key priority in our community.
HSF brings together over 200 volunteers, countless families, and community donors to strengthen what makes Hillsborough a desirable place to live.

Proposition 13 redirects property tax revenue to the state's general fund, dramatically reducing funding for community-funded school districts like ours.
Hillsborough parents founded HSF to recreate the funding advantage our property wealth would have provided. We became one of the first nonprofit public school foundations in the country, leading the movement to secure private funding for public schools.
HSF establishes itself as a crucial part of HCSD's funding, supporting all areas of our schools' curriculum and helping create the educational excellence Hillsborough is known for.
HSF has raised over $87 million for our schools, with last year's contribution of over $4 million to maintain the educational excellence we expect in Hillsborough.
